Below is the synopsis of the novel being discussed at People of the Book featuring authors Jeremy Logan and Brenda Sevcik:
THE TRIGGER EFFECT, a story inspired by a murder in North Atlanta in 2016. Two teenagers were found murdered behind the Publix on Hwy. 92. I said to myself, “what could they have possibly done to deserve that?” That prompted the idea to write the novel. In my story, the police investigate and discover the male’s parents were a mixed marriage, a female Christian and a male Jew, and the mother insisted their son would be raised Christian. Upon the boy’s death, the father returns to his Jewish faith, customs and rituals, putting on his tefillin and recites the Mourner’s Kaddish.
The story follows two detectives who can’t find who the perpetrator is until one of the suspects begins to unravel. They discover he’s a person who suffered a mental breakdown, and intended to scare the couple, not kill them. But the plans of someone impaired mentally can easily go awry.
