Scholar-in-Residence Dinner & Program

Friday, February 11, 2022 10 Adar I 5782

7:15 PM - 9:00 PMSH #1

Session 1 (Friday Night)
Shabbat Service - 6:30 p.m.
Dinner 7:15 p.m. / Program 8:15 p.m. Radow Sanctuary
With the emergence of the American suburbs, the 1950s became the first great period of American Jewish experimentation. Come and learn about how this great historical era of experimentation informs what trends we are seeing in our own era of experimentation, as Judaism seeks to remain relevant in face of the challenges of today.

Session 2 (Shabbat Morning)
Shabbat Service - 9:30 a.m.
As Jewish life spread throughout the United States in geographical regions outside of New York, Jews built Jewish communities in cities like Atlanta. Learn how these “bottom-up Jewish communities” evolved, and what their evolutions can teach us about how we can jump-start American Jewish communal life.

Session 3 (After Kiddush in the Sanctuary - 12:45 p.m.)
Q&A with Chancellor Shuly Rubin-Schwartz, the leader of the Conservative Movement of Judaism. Come prepared with questions about our sessions, as well as any questions about the State of Conservative Judaism in America. Questions may be submitted in advance to rabbidorsch@etzchaim.net
