Chavurah

Etz Chaim is delighted to announce that we are relaunching our Chavurah initiative!

The word Chavurah means “a community or subgroup of friends.”  A chavurah is a beautiful way to socialize and get to know one another again in small groups of Etz Chaim congregants.  Once you sign up and connect with your chavurah, the synagogue will be happy to provide micro-grant funding to assist your group with programming.

What will your subgroup do together? That all depends on you. We presently have more than half a dozen active chavurot in our community, with over 100 people involved. Each chavurah schedules and plans gatherings that are meaningful to them, including synagogue, community, and social events. They share season tickets to sporting events, go to concerts, enjoy Shabbat dinners, coordinate social action projects, take hikes, taste wine, help to make minyan, and just gather to chat and play lawn games.

We are excited about this new opportunity to build and strengthen new connections, and we invite you to fill out our interest form. When you do, you’ll hear from Ellen Davison (770-656-9602) or Felicia Berne (678-910-1656), our Chavurah co-chairs. They will help you form your new chavurah, and provide as much guidance as you would like. Feel free to contact either one of them at chavurah@etzchaim.net if you have any questions.
